Much-criticised for his recent statements on the South African league, Hugo Broos is hoping to reconcile himself with the fans this Saturday. Bafana Bafana face Morocco as part of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. A win would go a long way for Broos and the South African team, who are becoming increasingly unpopular.
"We've been playing in front of empty stadiums for the last two years and we need the crowd against an opponent of Morocco's calibre. Secondly, we need to win back the hearts of our fans by putting in a good performance. Bafana Bafana are not popular in South Africa. To win back the fans, we're going to have to play well in front of them," Broos told a press conference.
Even so, Bafana Bafana's qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has sparked a new wave of interest. And tickets are selling like hotcakes for Saturday's match.
