A statement to clarify his situation. Sadio Mané has announced his decision for the mercato: he wants to stay at Bayern, with whom he won the German championship in his first season.
After leaving Liverpool, Sadio Mané had a mixed first season at Bayern Munich. With 12 goals and 6 assists, the Senegal international started just 27 of the 38 games he played in all competitions. He also suffered an injury that ruled him out of the World Cup, as well as an extra-sporting problem after hitting team-mate Leroy Sané. Could this be enough to push him off? No. The 31-year-old is adamant. He wants to stay in Bavaria.
"I'm on holiday with my family. It was a very complicated season, it happens. It wasn't a surprise, I expected things to be a bit complicated. That's to be expected. I like a challenge and Bayern is a great club. It's up to me to do everything I can to rise to the challenge. Things like that can happen. They did. We were able to sort out this little problem. Sometimes it's good to solve problems, but maybe not like this. It's behind us now. We're going to try and fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season. Yes, God willing. If everything goes well, I'll go back to Bayern," Sadio Mané told Senegalese television channel 2STV.
No contact with Saudi Arabia
Since the start of the summer transfer window, several media outlets have reported talks between Sadio Mané and Saudi Arabia. However, this is not the case. That's according to his manager Bacary Cissé. The latter sounded the same trumpet as his player regarding the mercato.
"I haven't heard of any moves (by Saudi Arabia). What's certain is that he's staying at Bayern. He signed for three years. He's had one year and has two more. So yes, for the moment he's staying at Bayern. Recruited for €32 million last summer, Sadio Mané should therefore continue at Bayern next season.
