Football - Cameroon: Andre Onana is a Mancunian

A year after joining Inter Milan for free, Andre Onana has signed for Manchester United. The Red Devils paid 50 million excluding bonuses for the Cameroonian keeper, who becomes the 3rd most expensive goalkeeper in history.

It's the epilogue to one of the most closely watched stories of the summer mercato. Andre Onana will be wearing a Manchester United shirt this season. The English club and Inter Milan have reached an agreement. They have just made the transfer official on their respective social networks. "André [Onana] has been successful throughout his career and he will contribute to the winning mentality we are building. He is already one of the best goalkeepers in the world and we are confident that he can progress further at Manchester United," said Man. United's Director of Football, John Murtough. "Onana is a new Manchester United player. Thank you for everything" thanked the Italians.

The Lombards have managed an incredible capital gain. Having arrived for free last summer, Andre Andre has brought €50 million (excluding bonuses) to Inter Milan. The Cameroonian thus becomes the most expensive African goalkeeper in history and the 3rd most expensive in the world, behind Chelsea's Spaniard Kepa (80 million euros) and Liverpool's Brazilian Allison (62 million euros). He thus enters the annals of soccer. He cost Ajax Amsterdam just 150,000 euros in 2015, at the end of his training at FC Barcelona.

Andre Onana: "I'm starting a new adventure at Manchester United".

Andre Onana will never forget his short, but ultimately successful stint at Inter. "I never imagined that saying goodbye would be so difficult. A year ago, I became a Nerazzurro, and a lot of people told me there was something special about this club and this city. Now I can confirm it. In my first days as a Nerazzurro, I realized that this is a family, that being an Interista is a way of understanding life," said the former Ajax goalkeeper on Instagram.

"I fell in love with the Curva and the city. Now the circumstances are right for me to start a new adventure at Manchester United. I do so with great enthusiasm, but knowing that I'll miss you. Eternal gratitude to all the Inter players. You make this club great. Maybe one day our paths will cross again, but now it's time to take on new challenges and cheer you on from afar. Players come and go, but the club always remains, and Inter is above everything and everyone," adds the 27-year-old.
