Following her gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Tatjana Schoenmaker wins her first gold medal at the World Swimming Championships. This Friday, the South African won the 200m breaststroke in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2mn20s80. She beat American Kate Douglas (2mn21s23) and Dutchwoman Tes Schouten (2mn21s63). She thus becomes the first African world champion in the 200m breaststroke. She gives Africa its second medal of the World Swimming Championships. She won silver in the 100m breaststroke.
