27 athletes will represent Nigeria at the World Athletics Championships, scheduled for August 19-25 in Budapest. The West African country will have to do without one of its medal hopes, Tobi Amusan. The reigning 100m hurdles world champion is out due to a suspension for an anti-doping rule violation. The Nigerian is said to have missed three tests in the space of 12 months.
But Nigeria will be able to count on Ese Brume, runner-up in the long jump, sprinter Favor Ofili and Chioma Onyekwere in the discus throw. In total, the list includes 11 male and 15 female athletes for these World Championships.
