Mary Moraa created a sensation at the Budapest World Athletics Championships. On the evening of Sunday August 27, the Kenyan won the gold medal in the 800m. The 23-year-old finished in 1'56''03. She beat the two big favorites, Great Britain's Keely Hodgkinson and American Athing Mu, world and Olympic champion.Mu had been unbeaten in a major championship for two years.
It's a crowning achievement for Mary Moraa. The latter had finished 3rd at the World Championships in Eugene in 2022.
