Suspended by FIFA from February 12, 2022 to July 23 for alleged government interference in the affairs of its federation, Zimbabwe made a comeback on the international stage on Monday evening, when they played a friendly against Namibia in Harare as part of the President's Inauguration Cup.
The Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw at the end of normal time. The Zimbabwean goals were scored by Msebe (2nd) and Ferai Banda (36th), while the Namibian goals were scored by Eliakim (33rd) and Kambanda (62nd). Zimbabwe eventually won the shoot-out (5-4). Namibia will play a second friendly against South Africa at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on September 9.
