Amputee football team defeat Morocco in final to become Champions

Ghana wins African Para Games 2023

Ghana’s Amputee Football team, known as "The Black Challenge," in a spectacular showdown at the MacDan Park in Accra, clinched the championship title of the 2023 African Para Games football tournament. This hard-fought victory came after they defeated Morocco 2-1 in a gripping final, marking a sweet redemption for the Ghanaians who had previously suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Moroccans during the group stage of the competition.

The Moroccans displayed their dominance early in the game, relentlessly pressuring Team Ghana's defense and testing the skills of their goalkeeper. In the 38th minute, Morocco seized the opportunity, scoring a breathtaking curling shot into the top left corner following a midfield error by Allotey.

However, The Black Challenge roared back in the second half, relentlessly pushing against Morocco's defense and forcing their goalkeeper into a series of remarkable saves. The crowd erupted with excitement as Hamza Mohammed's goal in the dying moments of the game brought Team Ghana level. Riding the wave of this momentum, Captain Richard Attah sealed the deal with a beautifully executed free-kick, giving The Black Challenge a 2-1 lead in extra time and securing the championship trophy for Team Ghana.

We promised and have delivered and I’m very excited about this”.

He stated, "We are still going to keep our heads up. This isn’t the result we expected but It wasn't an easy. We were aiming for gold. Ghana is a very good side and it was a tough game.
