Young Africans beat Al-Merreikh (2-0)
Young Africans have taken a significant step towards the group stage of the CAF Champions League. In the first leg of the second preliminary round, the Tanzanians recorded a fine home win over Sudanese club Al Merreikh (2-0). A comfortable lead for the Tanzanian team ahead of the return leg on September 30.
FC Nouhadibou also put in a fine performance in Mali. The Mauritanians inflicted a thrashing on Real Bamako on their home ground. The score was a resounding 3-0. The club can now look forward to qualifying for the CAF CL group stage.
AS FAR, on the other hand, lost to Etoile Sahel by the slimmest of margins (1-0). The reigning Moroccan champions will have to work hard at home if they are to reach the group stage. Ditto for Simba SC, who had to settle for a draw against Zambia's Power Dynamos FC (2-2).
