A huge blow for Zakaria Aboukhlal. The Moroccan international is out for the rest of the season. After injuring his right knee against Union Saint-Gilloise (1-1) on September 21 in the Europa League group stage, the Moroccan international underwent surgery. "His operation went well. However, our striker will probably be unavailable until the end of the season. The TéFéCé wishes him a good convalescence and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch", indicated Toulouse on Thursday September 28 in a press release. The club had initially indicated that he would be absent for "several months".
Author of 15 goals and 5 assists last season in all competitions, the Atlas Lion was in fine form at the start of the season. He had already scored 3 goals in Ligue 1. Toulouse thus lose their top scorer and will have to find a solution to make up for his absence. Morocco will also be without Aboukhal for the 2023 AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire.
