Elye Wahi joined RC Lens this summer from Montpellier. The Sang et Or had to pay 30 million euros to secure the services of the Franco-Ivorian. Although eagerly awaited, the young striker took his time to make his mark.He spoke to Téléfoot on Sunday October 8 about this difficult period."It's true that I was waiting for him (his first goal with Lens), because I wasn't used to taking so long to score my first goal (against Strasbourg, on Matchday 7 of Ligue 1)," confided the former Montpellier striker.
Since then, Elye Wahi has followed up with a fine performance in the Champions League against Arsenal.First he set up the ball, then scored, to give Lensois a precious victory. "I was expected and I knew it. I knew that my moment was coming, and now my season is launched. I think it was the best match of my career. I'll never forget it (...) I never doubted. It's a Champions League match, but I'm not any more apprehensive than that. We're the minnows, and we've got everything to show without any pressure," declared the Sang et Or striker.
"J'étais attendu et je le savais Mon temps est arrivé et ma saison est lancée."
