In an interview with Nouvelle Chaîne Ivoirienne (NCI), Joseph-Antoine Bell harshly criticized the Confederation of African Football over the management of the discipline on the continent, in particular the professionalization of clubs. According to the Cameroonian legend, the Confederation's approach is anything but productive.
"African clubs can't become professional because of Cairo. Clubs must become professional because it's an internal aspiration (...) If we tell you that to be accepted into the league you must have a reserve team, an under-20 team, an under-17 team, a women's team... it's reminiscent of a large family struggling to eat three times a day and send their children to school, and who allow themselves to adopt an extra child," he castigated on NCI.
