Absent from the Ghana squad for the September training camp, Thomas Partey has made his return to the Black Stars. The Arsenal midfielder played 45 minutes in Ghana's 2-0 defeat by Mexico on Sunday October 15. After the match, Chris Hughton spoke about the management of the player who still needs more attention.
"Thomas (Partey) was only supposed to play 45 minutes. He was injured for three or four weeks. He came back with Arsenal in the middle of last week. He's only played 20 minutes since then (against Manchester City 1-0). So we knew he was only going to play 45 minutes," explained the Black Stars coach.
Partey's situation is also being closely monitored by the London club. The Gunners have had the Ghanaian monitored by their physiotherapist, who is currently with the national team. He is expected to get more game time against the USA on Wednesday October 18 at 00:30 GMT.
Ghana boss Chris Hughton says it was a pre-planned decision to substitute Thomas Partey after 45 minutes against Mexico in a bid to manage his workload as he still returning to full fitness. No injury concerns. 🇬🇭 pic.twitter.com/p41h2Hoj5z
