Cameroon lost 1-0 to Senegal in a friendly on Monday October 16. A test between two nations who will meet again at the AFCON 2023, as they are in pool C. Jean-Charles Castelletto, who played right-back, spoke to Sport News Africa after the match. "It was a good match to start the preparation before the competition. It was a good match against a good Senegalese team. They've come away with a win, and we're going to refocus on the AFCON and get ready for this team," says the Nantes native, before adding a few words about the strengths of the Senegalese attack. "They're transition players. They hurt us on transitions and counter-attacks. When we were in position, it was complicated for them to get into the game. These are things we're going to work on. We know that these are players who like that. Next time it'll be different.
Jean-Charles Castelletto also highlighted the Cameroon team's areas for improvement. As for what needs to be improved, he answers straightforwardly: "automatisms, lots of things like that. There are also players who will be coming back. Not everything has to be thrown away. We'll keep the good things and work on the bad. Finally, the defender is not worried despite the two defeats (to Russia 1-0 on October 12). "I'd rather lose there than at the AFCON. Let's just say it's better this way.
