The senior women's soccer team of the Democratic Republic of Congo boycotted their training session on Monday October 23. The Leopards are protesting the non-payment of their bonuses from the AFCON 2024 qualifier against Benin.
The Congolese women are currently in training to prepare for their match against South Africa on Wednesday October 25, a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The women's Leopards had not yet had a full training session on Monday.
Speaking to Radio Okapi on Tuesday morning, CONOR vice-president Sabin Mashini, who is in charge of competitions, said: "To talk of a strike is saying too much, but the players' demands are legitimate. A solution will be found before the match". The players have apparently resumed training. Images of their training session on Tuesday October 24 have been posted on social networks.
