Shabani Nonda future president of the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa)? It's quite possible, according to his former Leopards team-mate Herita Ilunga. "It's not official, but he's proved it to us on several occasions, as far as I'm concerned. He gave himself the means to do so by joining the Centre de Droit et d'Economie du Sport in Limoges to learn the management and administration of sports organizations for two years. He's in the process of obtaining his diploma, which is no mean feat for a former footballer. He knows the field," says the former DRC defender.
"He wants to. Does he have the ability? We can trust him. In this kind of situation, there's no such thing as a providential man. He needs to be accompanied by a team of experts, people with a common vision to get Congolese soccer out of the situation it finds itself in," adds Ilunga.
Shabani Nonda retired in 2010. He is now 46 years old. The Congolese FA is currently run by a FIFA-installed normalisation committee.
