Involving everyone in the success of the AFCON 2023 is one of the top priorities of the State of Côte d'Ivoire. At the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie, the Salle Kodjo Ébouclé at the Palais de la Culture in Treichville was the setting for a meeting between COCAN, the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie and young people, with a view to an exemplary and grandiose mobilization.
Young people at the heart of the mobilization
Young people from all walks of life and all the communes of the Autonomous District of Abidjan once again answered the call to play their part in meeting the challenge of the AFCON 2023, scheduled to take place on Ivorian soil from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The ceremony culminated in the official handover of competition songs and symbols to the 4 host cities in the interior of the country:Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, Korhogo and San-Pedro. This official ceremony follows a cultural competition held in the 4 inland host cities, aimed at promoting their representative values of hospitality, fair play and cultural richness through the creation of an anthem and a symbol specific to each city.
This initiative met with the approval of the local youth, who participated in large numbers in the activities of this cultural and sporting project.
Culture and sport form an important whole to meet the challenge of mobilization and add to the attractiveness of Côte d'Ivoire as a destination during AFCON 2023. In the words of the President of COCAN, the works of the winning artists will be the true identities of the host cities, and will be used as the intangible heritage of the AFCON. In jubilant mood, the young people joined the officials present at the ceremony. Among them were Ministers Françoise Remarck (Minister of Culture and Francophonie), Silas Metch (Minister to the Prime Minister, responsible for Sport and the Living Environment) and François Albert Amichia (President of COCAN). For the 34th edition of the continental soccer extravaganza, Côte d'Ivoire is reassuring the world that all its sons and daughters will be mobilized to meet the challenge of the country's legendary hospitality.
