Dsports, a new specialized Senegalese website, broke the news on Saturday December 23. Senegal coach Aliou Cissé has gone six months without pay just a few days away from defending his African championship title in Côte d'Ivoire.
"Although he experienced a similar situation at the start of his appointment to the Lions' bench, the coach thought that this kind of incident had been consigned to the dustbin of history. However, he and his entire technical staff can't believe their eyes, since no payment of their salary has been made since last June.
However, Aliou Cissé is apparently doing everything in his power to nip this information in the bud so that it doesn't come to light just before the 34th biennial of African soccer. This Cornelian choice seems to betray the man with the dreadlocks, who is not alone in this situation since all the members of his technical staff are brooding over not having received a single kopeck during all this time", writes the site.
Aliou Cissé was appointed Senegal coach in March 2015. His monthly salary is estimated at 20 million FCFA (30,000 euros).
