Mauritania coach Amir Abdou spoke to RFI about Mauritania's AFCON group, which includes Algeria, Burkina Faso and Angola as well as the Mourabitounes.
In his view, Mauritania are not starting off with the prognosis in their favor. Asked how he saw the team in Pool D? He replied. "As an outsider. The favorite is Algeria, 100 times, there's no contest. Burkina Faso have always been there in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. These are teams that are always present at the competition. We'll be the outsiders along with Angola, so we'll be trying to be the spoilsports. We want to have an interesting tournament, and avoid the troubles and phobias we had with Mauritania in the last two editions, where the team didn't win a single match. That's our aim, to go and take on the big boys, tickle them and why not reach the last 16.
