Asian Cup 2023 - Ammouta: The "Moroccan sorcerer" who sends Jordan to the final

Moroccan coach Houcine Ammouta has put in one hell of a performance with Jordan. The African coach has taken the Jordanian team to the Asian Cup final for the first time in their history. In the semi-final, Jordan beat South Korea (2-0), one of the tournament favourites. In the final, scheduled for February 10 in Doha, Jordan will face either hosts and defending champions Qatar or Iran.

Born in Khémisset in 1969, the former Atlas Lions attacking midfielder was already a prophet in his own country before moving to Asia.He won the African Confederation Cup with FUS Rabat in 2010. He won the Moroccan championship with WAC and FAR Rabat. He also won the 2017 CAF Champions League with Wydad. Houcine Amouta went on to win the CHAN 2020 with Morocco's local team in Cameroon. The 54-year-old was also Asian club champion, winning the 2011 AFC Champions League with Al Sadd.
