Former Senegal international Mamadou Niang spoke to Canal + about the end of Rigobert Song's tenure as Cameroon coach. For him, if Rigobert Song is deemed to be at fault for the team's recent failures, Eto'o shares the blame.
He seems to be insinuating that the player takes up too much space, which can hinder a coach. "It's a failure on Rigo's part, but it's also a failure on Samuel Eto'o's part, because I think he has a rather heavy presence on the national team. When you see a coach trying to coach the team, and then the President of the Federation barging into the dressing room to give instructions, it's complicated. He needs to cut the cord," he advises.
Samuel Eto'o @France24_fr sur sa démission de la FECAFOOT après la CAN: "C'est exact. Après un échec, il est bien de revenir vers la comité directeur et poser sur la table la question. Je suis heureux que tout mon comité m'a soutenu. Donc on continue"
