First thunderclap at the 58th edition of the Congo Cup. TP Mazembe have been disqualified from the competition by the Congolese Federation of Association Football.
The Lush club is accused of violating article 202 of the Fecofa's general sporting regulations, which requires any club requesting the postponement of a match to do so 72 hours before the original date of the match.
Les Corbeaux, who were due to face Nouvelle Vie of Kinshasa in the second preliminary round on Thursday May 16, only requested the postponement of their match 24 hours beforehand. In addition to disqualification, Mazembe have been ordered to pay a fine of 500 US dollars. TP Mazembe's dream of a league and cup double has been dashed.
