Algeria: FAF President Charaf-Eddine Amara announces his resignation

In front of the Algerian press, this Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Algiers, the first head of local soccer Charaf-Eddine Amara announced his resignation from the post of president of the Algerian Football Federation. This announcement comes only two days after the elimination of the Fennecs in the playoffs of the World Cup. The Algerian leader first informed the members of his federal office, during an extraordinary meeting held on the same day, before sharing it with the press.

"I inform the public opinion that I resign from my position as president of the Algerian Federation of Football," he announced after recalling the circumstances of his departure. He then explained that his resignation automatically entails that of all members of the Federal Bureau. Charaf-Eddine Amara also said: "The next elections will be held in a few days. The interim presidency will be ensured by the Vice-President, Mohamed Maouche.

The now ex-president of the FAF also mentioned the future of the Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi. He announced that he would take time to reflect on his future," he explained. I tried to convince him to stay at the head of the national team." Asked about possible tensions between him and the Algerian coach, Charaf-Eddine Amara said, "I recall that it is the president of the FAF who appoints the coach of the national team and not the other way around.
