Asante Kotoko owner and Life Patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the king of the Ashanti Kingdom tasks the club to win the upcoming 2022 CAF Champions League.
The king of the Ashanti Kingdom received the management, technical team, players and other officials at the Manhyia Palace on Monday after being crowned the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League champions.
CEO of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah led the team to present the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League trophy to the life Patron.
Kotoko last won the African Cup of Champions Clubs, now Champions League, in 1983.
According to the Life Patron of the club, the ultimate must return to Kumasi and Manhyia
"I am happy you won the league and I am also happy to be receiving it. What is left is the Africa Champions League"
"Most of the players are bought from other clubs and so they leave very early. They join the club and leave sometimes just after a season. We must all try and keep the core of the team for this African Campaign" he added
The porcupine Warriors secured the Ghana Premier League title last week when they honoured an outstanding game against Ashantigold SC after picking a point at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors defeated Elmina Sharks 3-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to end the match day 33 and their final home game in style.
The week 33 fixture was also the coronation day for the new Ghana Premier League champions.
The Porcupine Warriors will represent Ghana in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League campaign.
