The second leg of the 2nd preliminary round of the African Champions League ended this Sunday, October 16. In danger after its defeat in the first leg against Rivers United, Wydad showed for the return match that it was not the defending African champion for nothing. The Moroccans defeated the Nigerians 6-0 at home to join the group of the big qualifiers.
Wydad will not join TP Mazembe in the pack of big boys eliminated for the group stage of the African Champions League. In a bad situation after its defeat against Rivers United (2-1) in the first leg a week ago, the Moroccans have recovered in front of their public, on Sunday, October 16 for the second leg. The defending African champions won 6-0 against the Nigerians and thus booked their ticket to the group stage.
Horoya got scared
Horoya also got through. But it was difficult for the Guineans. Winners of the first leg on the ground of ASEC Mimosas (0-1) a week ago, they were forced to panic at home for the second leg. Surprised in the 73rd minute by the visitors on a goal by Kramo, the Guineans had to fight until the extra time (90+2) to snatch their victory thanks to a goal by Mr. Fofana.
Another great to have joined the group of qualifiers: Simba SC. The Tanzanians confirmed against Primero Augusto this Sunday by winning 1-0. In the first leg a week ago, they had also beaten the Angolans (4-1).
Coton Sport and Al-Hilal to meet
Coton Sport and Al-Hilal have also qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League. The Cameroonians eliminated Royal Leopards (Eswatini) after winning on Sunday 2-0. In the first leg, the two teams were held in check (1-1).
