Tanzanian football is arguably the most productive in the Eastern African Block. Simba, Yanga and Azam are making waves across the continent with their international recruitments, attracting more big names and coaches but also producing fascinating encounters and results on the continent.

Moses Phiri, a summer signing from Zambia's Zanaco SC, has done Simba SC a world of good in the first round of the Champions League. The 29-year-old Zambian striker scored three goals in the double-header against Big Bullets of Malawi. In the first leg (2-0), he opened the score and in the return leg on Sunday 18 September he scored both goals for the Tanzanian club (2-0).
Another master class performance was registered by Congolese striker Filston Kalala Mayele of Young Africans. Over the two leg games played against Zalan FC, the number 9 player scored a double hat trick that is six goals in two games. This definitely is a record breaker in the modern era of the CAF inter Club competition. The 28 year old striker has been replicating his fine form in the start of the Tanzanian Premier League in the CAF Champions League. He helped Yanga SC clinch the domestic double last season finishing as the club's top scorer.

Both Simba SC and Yanga SC have sufficiently sailed through in grand style to the second preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions league while the third Tanzanian team, Azam fc will only join the race in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminaries in the second round that is the next stage.
