It's over between Franck Dumas and TP Mazembe. The French coach was sacked after the Congolese club was eliminated at home by Vipers SC of Uganda on Saturday, October 15, in the second preliminary round of the Champions League. After a blank draw in the first leg in Kampala and in the second leg in Lubumbashi, the Crows were eliminated on penalties (2-4).
This is the second time in a row that TP Mazembe is eliminated at this stage of the competition under the leadership of Franck Dumas. This is the failure of too much in the eyes of the boss of the Congolese team, which decided to separate from him. "This Saturday, October 15, 2022, the president Moïse Katumbi and the coach, Mr. Franck Dumas, have separated amicably, announced a statement of TP Mazembe. The president thanked the coach for the work done and wished him well. Mr. Franck Dumas, for his part, expressed his wishes for full success to TP Mazembe and its supporters."
Moses Katumbi did not limit himself to dismissing the coach of TP Mazembe. In addition, he "took the decision to suspend with immediate effect the Committee with the exception of the secretary of the team, Mr. Hilaire Kabila, who remains in office"
Arrived at TP Mazembe in August 2021, Franck Dumas has never convinced the fans of the club by his philosophy of play. The French technician has nevertheless led the Crows to the semi-finals of the last edition of the Confederation Cup. It is in this same competition that the Congolese will have to focus, as last season, to try to save their season.
Mazembe will therefore play the playoffs of the CAF Cup against an opponent to be determined.
