Following physical assault suffered by referees in the game pitting Unisport against Victoria United, the Transitional Council Of Professional Football (CTFP) decided to suspend, as a precaution, all sports activity on the municipal stadium of Bafang.
It is the highlight of the statement signed by the CTFP General Secretary, this Monday February 13, 2023.
The Bafang municipal stadium will no longer be able to host matches in all competitions. However, this measure is only precautionary.
The final decision will be made by the Ethics Commission and the Fecafoot Federal Homologation Commission.
Also on the press release, CTFP regretted the scene of shame, whilst apologising to fans and partners;
"The Transitional Council of Professional Football informs the sporting public that, as a precaution, the Municipal Stadium of Bafang is suspended from all competitions, pending the decisions to be made by the Federal Homologation Commission and the FECAFOOT Ethics Commission. already seize to retrograde acts which tarnish the image of our football." A part of the statement reads.
As a reminder, match day 14 of the MTN Elite Two saw Unisport of Haut-Nkam receive Victoria United at the Bafang municipal stadium.
Following a contentious penalty awarded to Victoria United at the very end of the match, the supporters of the Western club burst onto the lawn to battle with the referees of the match.
The club had earlier on Sunday night sent out a release dissociating itself with the poor attitude of the supporters and called on them to stay loyal and unaggressive towards match officials.
