Elite football resumes in Cameroon after the World Cup break and it is business as usual for multiple times winners Coton Sport of Garoua who are slowly gliding their way up to the top of the standings.
The two most successful clubs in Cameroon had mixed fortunes on match day 10 of the championship played on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Coton Sport ended its four-game winless streak (one loss and three draws) at Bamendzi Stadium in the west of the country. The club from Garoua dominated PWD of Bamenda (1-2). A victory that was not easy to achieve.
Gabriel Haman's men opened the score by Daman Abdourahman (42nd), but Leonel Ateba equalized at the beginning of the second act (1-1, 52nd) against his former employers. PWD of Bamenda was still dangerous, but it was Daman Abdourahman who signed a double after the hour (1-2, 61st) for Coton's victory. Thanks to this success, Coton Sport is back in second place in Group A.
The club has two points more than its eternal rival, Canon Sportif de Yaoundé, which had a different fate in the same stadium. The "Mekok Megonda" drew 1-1 with Aigle de la Menoua. Emmanuel Mahop had opened the score for Canon (77th), but the Oiseau de la Menoua equalized in the last second of stoppage time (1-1, 90th+7).
