Ghana beat Sudan 3-1 in CHAN tournament

The Black Galaxies of Ghana staged a stunning turnaround to beat Sudan in their second group C game in the ongoing CHAN tournament in Algeria.

The West African side who lost to Madagascar in their first game, had to go the extra mile to beat the Sudanese to revive their hopes of sealing a place in the next round of the competition.

Coach Annor Walker made four changes to his side that lost the first game, bringing in Augustine Agyapong, Kofi Kordzi, Jonah Attuquaye and Sylvester Simba for Augustine Randolf, Gladson Awako, Razak Yussif and Razak Kasim.

The Secretary birds of Sudan however came early into the party as Al-Gozoli Nooh scores in the 31st minute to put them ahead.

The Black Galaxies looked more frustrated after conceding and went on to lose most possessions.

Center back Konadu Yiadom magically equalized for Ghana on the stroke of half-time as his low shot was deflected into the net of the Sudanese.

Back from recess, the Galaxies went in search of the winner and a glorious opportunity popped up but was missed.

Augustine Agyapong in the 54th minute sent in a beautiful cross in the Sudanese half but was blown away by Afriyie Barnie.

The skipper finally had the opportunity to put Ghana ahead from the spot in the 65th minute after he was brought down in the penalty box.

Afriyie again had the a glorious opportunity to double Ghana's lead but saw his left foot shot missed by inches.

The former Hearts of Oak forward scored again from a header but was disallowed after a VAR check.

The Sudanese had the chance to equalize in the 86th minute but Al-Gozoli Nooh's effort was denied by the Ghanaian goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.

Ghana was later reduced to ten men as Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was sent off for a rough tackle.

Super- sub Suraj Seidu sealed the victory for the Black Galaxies with a long drive in the 90+9 minute to keep Ghana's hope alive.

The Black Galaxies will now wait for the outcome  of the game between Sudan and Madagascar to decide their fate in the tournament.
