On the sidelines of the second day of the African Nations Championship 2022 (CHAN), Algeria won against Ethiopia this Tuesday, January 17 (1-0). The Ethiopians held until the break before being surprised at the 52nd minute by Aimen Mahious. The Algerian striker scored his second goal of the competition and allows his team to qualify for the quarterfinals.

With 2 victories in a row in group A, Algeria is the first team to qualify for the next round of CHAN. The host country may be followed by Senegal. The Lions of Teranga will play this Wednesday, January 18 against Uganda (19:00 GMT). DR Congo will face Ivory Coast in the same day (16:00 GMT).
Mozambique eliminates Libya
After an unsatisfactory start, Mozambique won against Libya (3-2), this Tuesday, January 17. It was for the second day of the group stage of CHAN 2022. The Mambas were down for a long time (0-1), but they were able to turn the situation in their favor. Thanks to the goals of Melque Alexandre (74th), Néné (80th) and Hà King (84th). In the end, Libya tried to return to the score with the goal of Anis Saltou (90+3). But, the Mozambicans finally won the game.

The Knights of the Mediterranean are thus eliminated from the CHAN before their last game against Ethiopia, following this second defeat in group stage (A). Mozambique is currently leading group A with four points, ahead of the host country (three points).
