CHAN 2022: Senegal achieves the best operation of the day

The Teranga Lions signed the best result of the day by dominating (1-0) the Elephants of Ivory Coast, on Saturday, January 14, for the first day of group B. With this success, the men of Pape Thiaw occupy the head of their group and take a serious option on the qualification into the quarters.

Winning replacements by Pape Thiaw as Moussa Ndiaye pops up from the bench to get the winner. It is thanks to this recipe that Senegal beat (1-0) Côte d'Ivoire.

The midfielder of Jaraaf de Dakar entered the game in the 66th minute and scored the winning goal for the Lions of Teranga. He found himself in an exquisite position to feed off a goal post rebound from a free kick. The goal was validated after consulting the VAR. Ten minutes earlier, the Senegalese missed the opening goal when a penalty was missed by Lamine Camara.

This victory allows the men of Pape Thiaw, the Senegalese coach, to occupy the top of their group with three points. The DRC and Uganda, who drew (0-0) in the first hour, are tied second (1 pt). Côte d'Ivoire closes the march (0 pt, -1).

Senegal and Algeria in the quarters if...
The Lions of Teranga can validate their qualification for the quarterfinals from the next day, Wednesday, January 18. Senegal will face Uganda while Côte d'Ivoire will try to get back on track against the DRC. A beautiful duel in perspective.

Before the matches of group B, group A has completed its first day. Ethiopia and Mozambique shared the spoils in a goalless game. These teams (1 pt) occupy the second place in their ranking, two points away from Algeria (1st, 3 pts), which beat (1-0) Libya in the opening of the CHAN, on Friday, January 13.

Like the Senegalese, the Algerians can pocket their ticket for the quarterfinals from the second day of Group A, Tuesday 17. They will face the Ethiopians while the Libyans will be opposed to the Mozambicans.
