The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the list of approved stadiums for the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers. Twenty-six countries will be deprived of their stadiums.
This July will mark the start of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers for local players. Fifty-four nations will compete in two-legged matches. A few weeks before the first round, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has published the list of approved stadiums.
And we can say that the report is without appeal. Several nations will not be able to host their home matches. They are 26 in total. Among them are Guinea, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Chad, Liberia, Niger, Djibouti and Congo Brazzaville.
Another point to note in this list is that, unlike the above-mentioned teams, South Africa alone has 9 validated stadiums. Cameroon and Egypt also have 7 approved stadiums. Morocco also has 5 stadiums that meet the standards.
As a reminder, the seventh African Nations Championship (CHAN 2023) will be held from 8 January to 5 February 2023 in Algeria. This tournament, postponed by one year because of Covid-19, will feature 18 teams, a great first, with three groups of four and two groups of three.
It should be noted that for this seventh edition, Libya and Morocco are automatically qualified. Algeria is the host country, while Egypt and Tunisia have not registered for these qualifications.
