The African Nations Championship (CHAN 2023) will be held from January 8 to February 5, 2023 in Algeria. A 7th edition of the competition reserved for players from the African continent, whose first round of qualifying begins on July 22. Find the program and the results of the first round.
The nations involved in the qualifiers for the African Championship of Nations (CHAN 2023) take to the pitches this weekend across the continent. It is from this Friday, July 22 that the first round begins. A total of 13 matches are scheduled and will see the lowest ranked nations compete. Two matches will take place today with Comoros hosting South Africa and Ethiopia hosting South Sudan. On Saturday, Gambia will face Guinea Bissau, while Eswatini will challenge Botswana. On Sunday, there will be several clashes with Mozambique-Zambia, Ghana-Benin and Liberia-Senegal. The return matches will be played in a week.
The 13 qualified at the end of the return leg will join the second round whose first and second leg matches will be played respectively from August 26 to 28 and September 2 to 4. This round will see Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Chad, DR Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and Sudan make their entry. It should be noted that in addition to Algeria, host country of the CHAN 2023, Morocco and Libya, under the North zone (UNAF), are automatically qualified for the final phase of the tournament.
