Tobi Amusan set a new record by winning gold in the 100-meter hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.
Tobi Amusan has magic in her legs. The Nigerian sprinter won gold in the women's 100m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday, August 7, setting a new world record (12'30) ahead of Bahamian Devynne Charlton (12'58) and Britain's Cindy Sember (12'59). A new historical performance for Amusan only two weeks after having taken the world record in the discipline at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.
In case you are just returning from church service, and maybe missed this; Tobi Amusan made history again, running a #CommonwealthGames record. At the start of the race, Tobi gave some of us a scare, but she came through like a speed train

World record at the Oregon Track and Field World Championships
With a time of 12'12 in the semi-final, Tobi Amusan had indeed erased the mark of the American Kendra Harrison (12'20 in 2016). The Nigerian then won the final with a new stratospheric time (12'06). But her time will not be certified because of a too favorable wind on the back (2.5/s).
"Honestly, I believe in my abilities but I didn't expect a world record at these championships," she said after her final victory in Oregon. The goal is always to execute well and get the win," she continued. So the world record is a bonus. I knew I had it in me but I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the screen after the semifinals."
"Before the final, I just tried to stay calm and do my best. I took a deep breath knowing that I had goals to accomplish and it worked out pretty well. I knew it was very fast, but not that fast," she had smiled for the cameras.
