Lilian Kasait Rengeruk is pinned for doping. The Kenyan athlete has even been suspended for 10 months by the Athletics Integrity Unit. A situation that has strongly annoyed the Kenyan Athletics Federation. The body had also taken new measures to combat doping.
Lilian Kasait Rengeruk is now part of the list of Kenyan athletes, nabbed for doping. The 5000m specialist tested positive for Letrozole, a hormonal substance. The athlete has admitted the facts. And the punishment was not long in coming. She was suspended for 10 months for doping. Aged 25 years, she will return to the track in February 2023. "Given the timeliness of the athlete's admission of anti-doping rule violations upon notification ... the parties agree that the period of ineligibility will be backdated." A former world under-18 champion in the 3,000m, Rengeruk finished 12th in the 5,000m final at last year's Olympics. All her results since January 20, 2021 have been cancelled.
The AIU has banned Kenya’s Lilian Kasait Rengeruk for 10 months (from 19 April 2022) for using a Prohibited Substance (Letrozole). Results disqualified since 20 January 2022.

Lilian Kasait Rengeruk is the eighth Kenyan, banned for doping since last July. Lawrence Cherono, winner of the 2019 Boston and Chicago marathons, has been banned from the World Athletics Championships for doping.
The Kenyan Athletics Federation (AK) had taken new measures to combat this scourge "From October 1, Athletics Kenya will begin the registration of athletics training camps, including details of all staff residing there and their respective roles vis-à-vis the athletes," reads a statement from AK on September 7. The body adds. "Athletics Kenya has reinvigorated the intelligence and investigation unit with the aim of dismantling cartels and taking the war against doping to a new level."
The new measures also require all coaches dealing with Kenyan athletes to have the appropriate certificates and licenses to operate in the country as well as to inform the authorities of their contact details.
