Wolkite City FC have gone top of the 2021/2022 Ethiopian Premier League after their hard fought 1-0 win against Bahir Dar Kenema FC on Wednesday.
Temesgen Bejrond netted the lone goal after 60 minutes at the Bahir Dar Stadium to ensure Wolkite City FC made it two wins from two matches played.
The Wolkite City FC side now go ahead of reigning champions St. George who are second on the log with 3 points from one match played since the League kicked off last week.
In the second match played at the same Stadium on Wednesday Ethiopian Medhin FC came from behind to defeat Arbaminch City FC 4-3.
Ashenafi Fida gave Arbaminch City FC the lead after only five minutes, but Biruk Mulugeta leveled matters after 14 minutes.
In a space of two minutes two more goals were scored with Jima Kitika putting Ethiopian Medhin after 22 minutes, but Derese Temesgen made it 2-2.
After recess Temesgen got his second after 77 minutes to put Arbaminch City ahead. But two goals in the last 10 minutes by Aschenaki Tsegaye and Eyob Gebre-Mariam were enough to ensure Ethiopian Medhin FC picked maximum points.
On Thursday two matches will be played with Ethio Electric FC facing a tough test against St. George, while Dire Dawa City FC also battle Legetafo Legedadi FC.
