The President of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Gianni Infantino has said Africa is making good strides in football development.
Infantino was speaking during the 44th CAF Ordinary Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania on August 10th.
The FIFA President said that since he was elected President several things about the development of Football in Africa have changed in a positive direction. We as FIFA will continue to work together and grow African Football together,” added Infantino.
He also made it clear that FIFA takes national teams very seriously and will always be willing to release players for national team competitions.
“We shall fight for the protection of national teams,” added Infantino who also praised Tanzania for hosting the 44th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.
CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe also made it clear that all the 54 Africa nations will support Infantino as he seeks re-election for another term during the elections to be held during the FIFA Congress to be held in Kigali, Rwanda in March next year. “All 54 members will support Infantino,” added Dr. Motsepe.
He also made it clear that the success of African football depends on the success of each of the 54 member nations. Dr. Motsepe said although they have made some strides in the last 15 to 16 months, there is still urgency that is needed for more to be achieved.
“I have visited about 20 countries and spoke to several Presidents and expressed the importance of supporting football,” added Dr. Motsepe.
