The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is preparing its competitions and has announced the dates of the various draws. April promises to be a busy month.
The 2021 African Cup of Nations was completed just two months ago, and CAF is already preparing the next round. The governing body of African football has its sights set on other competitions such as the 2023 AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire. The Confederation of African Football has also unveiled the date of the draw for the elimination phase. It will take place on 19 April at 5:30 GMT. These qualifiers begin in June.
For several days, the idea of a postponement of the AFCON 2023 has been circulating for several days. The 2023 African Cup is not the only competition in the making in Africa. Several others were waiting to be fixed as to when they would take place. It is now a done deal.
All the draws in April
CAF has also announced the date of the draw for the 2022 African Women's Cup of Nations. The competition will take place in Morocco in July 2022.
The qualified nations will soon be determined. CAF has set 25 April as the date for the draw. It will take place at 20:30, at the host country's place.
This month of April is definitely the month of draws for CAF. The African Nations Championship (CHAN), initially scheduled for 2022, will be held in 2023 in Algeria. Before that, it would first have to go through the qualification phase. These will begin in July 2022. The different groups will be unveiled on 28 April.
