Football - Germany - Borussia Dortmund: Sebastien Haller arrives!

After a brilliant season with Ajax Amsterdam, Sebastien Haller is expected to sign for Dortmund in the coming hours. The BvB and the Dutch club would have agreed on the transfer of the Ivorian international.

Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Sebastien Haller. The German club has reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam for the transfer of the Ivorian international. The transfer price is €31 million with a €4 million bonus. Aged 28, Sebastien Haller will thus return to the Bundesliga, after his time at Frankfurt (2017-2019).

Having arrived at Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2021 from West Ham, the Ivorian striker did not need much time to get everyone on board. In just one season with the Godenzonen, he has blown up the charts. He scored 21 goals and provided seven assists in the Eredivisie, finishing as the league's top scorer. But it is especially in the Champions League that the Elephant will distinguish himself with his 11 goals and 2 assists in 8 games. This puts him third in the competition behind Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski.

Haller to replace Halland
And as if by chance, Haller participated in Borussia Dortmund's elimination from the group stage (scoring in the first and second legs) in the prestigious European competition. This is perhaps one of the reasons why the BvB directors have decided to sign him. But can he make up for Halland's departure? The Ivorian international (12 caps, 4 goals) has in any case shown during the 2021-2022 season that, like the Norwegian, he too remains formidable in front of goal.

Currently on holiday in Côte d'Ivoire, he is expected to return to Europe to undergo a medical and, if successful, sign a four-year contract with the German club. With his arrival, the Bundesliga will welcome a second African star this summer, after the signing of Sadio Mané at Bayern Munich. The likely duel between the two men in Germany  promises to be a great one.
