Kada Stars are champions

Kada Stars Beach Soccer Club have emerged champions of the 2022 Nigeria Beach Soccer League in Birnin-Kebbi on Sunday.

The Kaduna based outfit wrapped up their historic title pursuit in the Super Four finals with a hard-fought 7-5 final match triumph to complete their perfect campaign, having won all three matches.

The Kaduna boys had finished as runners up in the last edition on home soil against Kebbi Fishers, and, this time, then made a bright start, trouncing Badagry BS 15-4.

After Friday's opener, Coach Isah Abdullahi's side continued in the rich vein of form as they pipped holders Kebbi Fishers in the title on Saturday before wrapping things up with a 7-5 victory over Smart City on Sunday.

As it stands, Kada Stars finished the standings with nine points while runners and former champions Kebbi with four points on their home ground.

The development comes as a huge boost for Nigeria as majority of players to compete for places when the Supersand Eagles begin preparation for the 2022 Mozambique Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.

The 2022 Nigeria Beach Soccer League is the second edition of the domestic championship launched in 2021, with a record 10 clubs entering for the championship from various states in the country for the 2022 season.

Participanting clubs were initially drawn in two groups, with the top two teams after three round of matches in three different venues, qualifying for the finals.

On individual awards, Kada Stars claimed the prizes as its captain Dozie Frank, won the Most Valuable Player and highest goalscorer of the tournament, while best goalkeeper of the tournament went to KADA BSC shotstopper.
