Qatar 2022 : Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo meets valiant Black Stars

Black Stars players and technical team with Ghana’s president

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo today invited the gallant Black Stars players and the technical team to his Presidency after qualifying to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

A goal from Thomas Teye Partey gave the Black Stars the lead in the 10th minute before William Troost Ekong equalized for the Nigerians from the spot in the 22nd minute.

Ghana qualified on the basis of away goals after a 0-0 stalemate in the first leg in Kumasi, Ghana.

The Black Stars team led by Dortmund Coach Otto Addo defied the odds to outsmart Nigeria in two legs to make the cut for the FIFA World Cup Cup in Qatar this year.

Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo in a short meeting with the team told Kurt Simon Okraku the President of the Ghana Football Association to keep the current Black Stars' technical team for the 2022 World Cup.

"Do everything possible to keep the team and coaches together at least until after the World Cup then we can take a long-term decision.”

Ghana Football Association assembled a four-man wise men of technical team comprising Otto Addo, Chris Hughton, Mas-ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng to frontier the World Cup play-offs.

The President also assured the team of a special package as an appreciation for the yeoman's Job done to secure qualification to the World Cup.

The Black Stars made a return to the World Cup after missing out on the last edition held in Russia four years ago.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup starts in November this year. Ghana will know it's Group stage opponents on Friday April 1 when the draw is held in Qatar.
