Qatar 2022: Tunisia must win against France or go home

Tunisia has an uphill task to best holders France while hoping results elsewhere ( Australia vs Denmark) works in their favor.

Jalel Kadri’s side need a win over the world champions to have any chance of progressing, having scored just one point so far.

And, thankfully, they could come up against a weakened French side, with Didier Deschamps suggesting a rotation after two wins from two games.

The Blues coach said pre-match “For us it’s ideal, we have six points so we’re sure to qualify after two games. We’ll appreciate that before the next game in four days. It brings peace, with the assurance that we qualify.

“We have a very good chance of finishing first [in Group D] because our goal difference is much better than Australia’s, so we’re in a perfect position.”

Deschamps looks likely to make a number of changes for the Tunisian clash, although he can’t resist the temptation of playing star man Kylian Mbappe.

Asked by a reporter if the striker had demanded to start, Deschamps responded by saying: “His physical condition is good – so we don’t need to keep him aside.

“He (Mbappe) wants to play tomorrow but not everyone can start the game, that’s normal. “

Tunisia possible 11

Tunisia should go with a (3-4-2-1, right to left):

Dahmen (GK) — 6. Bronn, 4. Meriah, 3. Talbi — 21. Kechrida, 17. Skhiri, 8. Mejbri, 24. Abdi — 23. Sliti, 10. Khazri — 9. Jebali
Injuries: None
Suspensions: None

Tunisia has no new injury concerns to consider but could make a change on the right side of their defence.

Mohamed Drager came off at half-time against Australia and so Wajdi Kechrida can be in line to replace him at the back.

Possible 11 For France

France (4-2-3-1, right to left): 1. Lloris (GK) – 2. Pavard, 24. Konaté, 17. Saliba, 25. Camavinga – 6. Guendouzi, 14. Rabiot – 20. Coman, 7. Griezmann, 10. Mbappe – 26. Thuram

Injured: Benzema, L. Hernandez, Areola

Suspended: none

With Lucas Hernandez out of the remainder of the tournament and his brother, Théo Hernandez the only remaining left-back in the squad, Eduardo Camavinga could be a surprise choice in this position.

Elsewhere, Ibrahima Konaté and Guillaume Saliba could be paired up in a much-changed backline, while there may be chances for Kingsley Coman and Marcus Thuram up top.

The game against France will be played at 6 pm at the Education City Stadium.
