Rep of Congo: ''No club'' Bifouma selected for the training camp in Morocco

Thievy Bifouma is in the list of 28 Red Devils called for the training camp in Morocco (September 17 to 27). In the Cherifian Kingdom, Congo will play two friendly matches, against Madagascar (24) and Mauritania (27), as part of the preparations for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The presence of Thievy Bifouma raises questions. The international striker is without a club, but that is not enough for the coach of Congo, Paul Put, not to take him. It's a pity he doesn't have a club," said the Belgian coach in a press conference on Wednesday 14 September in Brazzaville. But he had shown good things against Gambia (first phase of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers in Brazzaville, editor's note). I will give the example of Moumouni Dagano, when I was coach of Burkina. He was a monument in Burkina. He too was in the same situation as Bifouma. But he always had a good mind, the mind of a leader. And these are the same qualities that I detected in Bifouma. So his presence in the group will be necessary. He will be with us during the camp. The trainer will work with him individually."

Since 2020, Bifouma has only played 20 games for Bursaspor (10 games, 1 goal) in Turkey and Shenzen FC in China.

However, with 15 goals in 33 appearances, the 30-year-old striker remains the leading scorer in the history of the Red Devils.
