Sierra Leone coach names squad ahead of three international friendly ties

The head coach of the Sierra Leone national team John Keister has named a 25-man squad ahead of three international friendly matches.

Keister’s team will face Togo in the first match on March 24th, before lining up against Liberia three days later and winding up against Congo Brazzaville on March 29th. All the matches will be played in Antalya, Turkey.

Watford’s U-23 defender Kamil Conteh is among the players that Keister has invited. The coach made it clear that he has mixed foreign based players and local based players.

“These three friendly matches will give a good ground to assess the team ahead of several international matches this year including the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers,” added the Leone Stars coach.

Sierra Leone played at the AFCON 2021 where they failed to make it out of the group stage. They held giants Algeria to a goalless draw in their opening Group E match before drawing 2-2 with Cote d’Ivoire. The Leone Stars lost the last Group match 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea to miss out on booking a place in the Group of 16.
