Tanzania Premier League: Azam FC shock Simba SC

A Prince Dube goal in the first half was enough to hand Azam FC a deserved 1-0 win against Simba SC in a 2022/2023 Tanzania Premier League match played on Thursday.

Fresh from sacking their French coach Denis Lavagne because of poor results, the home side Azam FC came all out in search of maximum points at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.

The Zimbabwean international Dube silenced the Simba SC team after 35 minutes with the only goal of the match.

Simba SC who drew 1-1 in their last game against arch rivals Young Africans SC on Sunday tried to fight back to get goals, but found a well defending Azam side.

On Wednesday Young Africans SC stopped KMC FC 1-0 with Feisal Salum netting the lone goal. Geita Gold FC also defeated Ruvu Shooting 2-1 to move out of the bottom quarter of the log.

Juma Mahadhi and Burundian international Saidi Ntibazonkiza scored for Geita Gold Fc, while Ablkassim Suleiman netted the only goal for Ruvu Shooting.

Young Africans SC currently top the table with 17 points from 7 matches played, while Mtibwa Sugar FC who have played nine matches are in second place with 15 points.
