The second round of the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier League resumed on Thursday with two matches on card.
Coach Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA FC picked a crucial 1-0 away win to Wakiso Giants FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
After several raids at goal by each of the teams, Rogers Kassim Mato netted the long goal after 45 minutes for KCCA FC. In the second half the home side tried to fight back, but failed to find the goals.
“It is not always easy playing against the Wakiso Giants because they have a good team. But I am happy that we have picked three points in our first match of the second round,” said KCCA FC’s head coach Byekwaso.
The win sends KCCA FC to 32 points, five ahead of second placed Bidco FC. Byekwaso’s team has played 15 matches and won 10, losing three.
In a second match played on Thursday Maroons FC also picked a 1-0 away win against Busoga United FC in a match played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
A Darius Ojok strike after 72 minutes was enough to earn Maroons FC the win which pushed them to 9th place on the log with 18 points.
Action continues on Friday with second placed Bidco FC hosting 12th placed Blacks Power FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
