We can always improve when we work as a team- Benjamin Azamati

Ghana Athlete, Benjamin Azamati

Ghana’s 100m record holder Benjamin Azamati believes they can get better if they (4×100 team) work together as a team.

Speaking to Joysports after sealing a ticket for the finals of the 4×100m in the ongoing World Athletics championships, Azamati revealed that they would be great if they stay together.
Benjamin further said that their victory is as important to them as it is to fans back at home.

"We are aware of the expectations, but we need it more. We know how important it is to be at this stage, and we are aware we have to work.

I feel that as much as the fans home feel it’s important that we get to the next rounds, I feel it’s more important to us. We can always improve when we work as a team,” he told Joysports.

The national 100m record holder failed to make it to the semifinal for the 100m at the World Athletics Championships, finishing fourth in his heat, falling behind Christian Coleman, Andre de Grasse and Erik Cardoso.

Azamati together with Joseph Paul Amoah, Sean Sarfo Antwi and Emmanuel Oduro-Manu will be representing Ghana in the finals of the 2022 World Athletics championships on Sunday as they come up against USA , Jamaica, Canada, France, Great Britain, South Africa, and Brazil.

With failed attempts in the 100m, 200m and 800m races, the 4×100 event presents an opportunity for Team Ghana to give themselves a chance of winning a medal at the championships.

Ghana is yet to win a medal in the world athletics championships despite making 18 appearances since 1983.
