Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum believes his players deserve to win the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League.
Prosper Narteh Ogum was appointed at the start of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier league Season and has led the team to win their 25th title.
The Porcupine Warriors won the league with three games remaining after a 1-1 draw against regional rivals AshantiGold in Obuasi.
"Coaching a club like Asante Kotoko and also winning the league in my first season is a great and a fulfilling achievement to me. Having joined the team 9 months ago and with new players, it was not easy but with determination and hard work, we are here now"-he stated.
The former WAFA gaffer further expressed gratitude to his players, saying their effort and zeal played a key role in achieving this
"The players who plays for Asante Kotoko comes with a lot of egos and as a coach, you need to manage and control their egos to get them discipline and focused to be able to get the needed results you require as a coach".
Asante Kotoko will be representing Ghana in the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League after winning the Ghana Premier league.
There have been calls for the management to boost the squad by signing players in order to deliver in CAF's elite inter- club competition
"As a team going to Africa, we will reinforce most of our playing departments and making an impact comes with a lot of things but with discipline, hardworking and application of knowledge we will surely make an impact"- Ogum added.
Last season, they came close but fell short as Hearts of Oak won the league for the first time in over a decade.
They travelled to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates for pre-season, which has been praised given their spectacular run to the title.
