The draw for the 22nd edition of the World Cup was made on Friday 1 April in Doha. The five African representatives know their group opponents and the match days. Here are five dates to tick off and the calendar of the Africans for the first round.
21 November 2022, Senegal opens the ball
As in 2002, when Senegal made its first appearance at the World Cup, it will be the first African nation to open the tournament. The Teranga Lions start the competition on the first day. They will therefore have less preparation time than the other teams. This is important because, for once, the competition will be played in the middle of the season and without any preparation camp. Sadio Mané and his teammates will face the Netherlands of his teammate at Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk.
24 November 2022, Ghana challenge CR7's Portugal
Absent in 2018, Ghana make their return to the World Cup. The Blacks Stars, who reached the quarter-finals in 2010, play their first match against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal. This will be on 24 November.
27 November 2022, Morocco vs Belgium
Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku, who won the Italian championship in 2021 with Inter Milan, will meet on 27 November. Morocco face Belgium, who finished third in the last edition. In the 1994 World Cup, the two teams met and the Red Devils won 1-0.
30 November 2022, the Eagles take on the world champions
Tunisia has fallen into the pool of France, which has just dominated two African teams in a friendly during the FIFA window in March: Côte d'Ivoire 2-1 and South Africa 5-0. The opposition between the Eagles of Carthage and the reigning world champions is scheduled for 30 November 2022.
2 December 2022, two clashes for Africa
On 24 November 2022, Cameroon and Ghana, two African nations that have already reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup previously, will face two big names. The Cameroonians will face Brazil and the Ghanaians will meet Uruguay.
